Bonnie Alexander
From the time she was a small child, Bonnie Alexander has always loved animals, especially horses. She got her first pony at ten and continued working with ponies and horses for many years. Upon graduating from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), she chose to pursue her dual passions of art and horses. She started her own business designing needlepoint patterns leaning heavily towards animals, particularly horses. This enabled her to spend the time required to ride and show her horses. Her accurate depiction of animals and equestrian motifs made her needlepoint designs very popular with the horse world. Since then Bonnie has designed needlepoint canvases for many of the top riders, trainers and owners in the horse show and racing communities, including some Hall-of-Fame jockeys and Olympic Grand Prix riders. Over the years, Bonnie’s designs have been expanded to include many other images including wildlife, cats, dogs and even mermaids. Bonnie says, “The world is full of beautiful and interesting creatures and I love to incorporate them into my designs.” Her range of canvases are expressed as Pillow Covers, Belts, Frames, Brick Covers, Christmas Stockings and Ornaments and Rugs.
